Pam Smith MCSP, SRP. - Practice Principal

Graduating in 1982 from the physiotherapy school at Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh, Pam worked in the NHS in both Dundee and Edinburgh until eventually "crossing the border" to take up a position as Senior Physiotherapist in charge of the Sports Injury Clinic for Leeds City Council.

Having spent 7 years running the Sports Injury Clinic, Pam decided to start her own practice - Horsforth Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic - which she has been running since 1992.

She worked from 1985 - 1996 as Physiotherapist to the Scotland, England and Great Britain National Senior Swim Teams.

International competitions covered included:

Olympic Games, 1988 & 1992
Commonwealth Games, 1986, 1990
European Championships, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1995
World Championships, 1991, 1995
Numerous World Cup, International competitions and training camps.

Unfortunately, work commitments no longer allow Pam to be involved with the national swim teams.

Virginia Whiteley MSc BSc(Hons) MCSP

Qualifications:

BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy 1998 – University of Bradford
Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine – Society of Orthopaedic Medicine - 2003
Post Grad Certificate in Orthopaedic Medicine – University of Middlesex - 2003
Modified Pilates Instructor certificate – Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute 2004
MSc in Sport & Exercise Injury Management – Leeds Metropolitan University 2008

Experience:

Virginia has extensive experience in both orthopaedic and rheumatology musculoskeletal conditions, having a particular interest in benign joint hypermobility syndrome and lower limb injuries.

Her specialism is in the treatment of dance and performing arts injuries and she is registered on the practitioner lists of both Dance UK and the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine.

Virginia is trained in both Maitland & Cyriax techniques and is experienced in Acupuncture and Tui Na massage.

She also teaches Pilates on both a 1-1 and class basis, working with the general public and dance students.


Candice Milner BSc Hons, MCSP

Trained Manchester School of Physiotherapy.

Also has a Pilates qualification and is a member of the APPI. Candice is also traine in acupuncture therapy.

On maternity leave at the moment.


Eileen Watson BSc Hons, MCSP

Trained Leeds Metropolitan University School of Physiotherapy.


Sarah Jamieson MCSP

Sarah Jamieson graduated with a BSc Honours degree in physiotherapy from Bristol in 1996 and spent 10 years working in the NHS before becoming a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Huddersfield – acclaimed as the best Physiotherapy course in Yorkshire in the 2008 national student survey.

Having spent 8 years working for multiple rugby clubs including Wakefield RFU and Dewsbury Rams Sarah has a keen interest in field sport injuries.

Whilst working in the NHS Sarah ran the back pain schools and gained accreditation in the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine as well as qualifications/skills in the Kinetic Control Technique and McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy Approach to injury/problem management.


Rachel Underwood BSc (Hons), MCSP

Trained Leeds Metropolitan University School of Physiotherapy. She is a member of the APPI having gained qualifications if Pilates.

Also trained in acupuncture and sports massage. Rachel has a particular interest in musculoskeletal injuries.


Christa Chiyesu BSc, MCSP

Christa trained in the Netherlands graduating with a degree in physiotherapy.

She worked in the Netherlands for 2 years before moving to Botswana where she worked in both hospital and private practice. Part of the experience was treating players of the national football team.

Since 2006, Christa has been registered with the Health Professions Council in the UK and been working in private practice as well as occupational health settings at various locations in Leeds.


Anna Evans BSc (Hons), MCSP


Physiotherapy is a recognised treatment by health care companies.

All the physiotherapy staff in the Practice are fully insured, being chartered and state registered (MCSP, SRP).  

Their qualifications are recognised by private health care companies. Always check your own policy details.
